Hi, I'm Dominique, and I have wanted to become an educator since the 2nd grade, when my favorite teacher, Ms. Columbel, got to eat cupcakes every time a student had a birthday. I remember thinking, "Yep, that is definitely for me!"
The older I got, the more I realized, sadly, it wasn't all about the cupcakes!
Just as sweet are the kids that I have the privilege of seeing grow and reach academic success with the strategies and experiences that a traditional curriculum does not present.
I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Dowling College with a Dual Masters in English Language Arts and Students with Disabilities. I also graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelors Degree in Professional Communications with a minor in Classical Literature.
I am a proud alumni of the Half Hollow Hills School District (GO COLTS!) and feel extremely lucky to have had such influential and memorable teachers growing up right here!
Teaching is a puzzle where you need to ensure students are happy, stress free, successful, and full of knowledge, while also making sure they understand and decode everything properly.
When I saw my 4 year old struggle in Pre-K I thought, How can a little child be this stressed? How can I take at least a little bit of stress out of education, or at least, off of my little boy's tiny shoulders?
